Worried about COVID-19?
Professionals and technicians in health and social services will play a crucial role in efforts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. In light of this, the APTS is in constant discussion with the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) to make sure that all necessary measures are taken to guarantee the safety of its members who are assuring the health of the population in the face of the pandemic.

Laboratory personnel will be especially called upon to perform lab analyses to identify individuals who have contracted the virus. Already exhausted, they will be urged to make an even greater effort. Lab employees are on the front line, and managers will have to ensure that they can do their work safely.

The pandemic will quickly affect all Class 4 personnel. We are calling on the MSSS and managers of the integrated centres and university hospital centres to send clear directives to employees to reassure them. It is their responsibility as employers.

You have many questions about your working conditions, voluntary self-isolation, quarantine, payment of your salary and the impact of certain decisions on the missions of the health and social services system. We will convey your concerns to the MSSS so that prompt action can be taken and you can get answers as soon as possible.

To deal with this crisis, the APTS has set up an emergency cell. We will provide regular updates on the situation and send you the most up-to-date information possible.

We are very aware of the superhuman efforts that you'll have to make in the coming weeks and months as technicians and professionals. We want to salute your unwavering commitment to the population of Québec. Rest assured that we will do everything in our power as a union to help you through this ordeal.

Thank you for your indispensable collaboration and for your professionalism!
